Dr Michelle Lloyd

Veterinarian DVM, BSc (Vet bioscience), BHSc (Hons) Adelaide, BSc, BA

Michelle started with us in mid 2018 but it feels as though she’s been with us much longer! With our ‘Cat-Friendly Clinic’ status in mind, we were delighted to be able to bring another ‘nutty cat lady’ to
maintain our momentum with our feline program. Michelle fills that description perfectly and so we’re really pleased to have her on our team! `Michelle has studied extensively at the University of Adelaide. Initially she completed a double bachelor’s degree with honours, majoring in human physiology, psychology and anatomy. After working in the physiology research field for a year, she realised her interests lay in clinical work and animals, so in 2010 she went back to study and graduated from the DVM program at Roseworthy in 2015. We’re not sure what she’s planning for her next degree but hope it won’t be for a long time (we’d rather have her here)! Since graduating she has worked full-time in general practice with small animals, as well as assisting in teaching vet students at Roseworthy. She is interested in further developing her internal medicine knowledge, with a particular interest in feline internal medicine and behaviour (I think we already mentioned the nutty cat lady concept). She also is a member of the Roseworthy Veterinary Alumni committee and the AVA SA division committee, with the view to support colleagues and give back to the veterinary profession. Michelle has recently built a house in Gawler so is a local again! She shares the house with her Swedish Vallhund called Loki, and of course (as a slightly crazy cat lady), three gorgeous rescue cats – Percy, Darwin and Munty. In her free time she enjoys reading, art, yoga and most of all spending time pottering in her garden or with her indoor plants.
