Palliative Care & End-of-Life Services

Pets bring so much joy and unconditional love into our lives that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Sadly, our pets don’t live as long as we do but they are most definitely around long enough to become well and truly part of the family.

When your pets are coming near to the end, we can help you navigate this difficult time. For our team it is all about ensuring the best possible quality of life for the longest possible time but also recognising when the quality of life is gone.

All of our staff take this part of their jobs very personally and understand exactly what you’re going through. As pet owners, we have been there ourselves.
At Gawler Animal hospital, we collaborate with Eden Hills to help you through your grief and provide you with the very best support and after care of your beloved pet. Eden Hills have a careful and thoughtful approach, which means you can rest assured your pet’s remains will always be treated with the utmost respect.
Whatever choice you may make for after care, Individual cremation, general cremation or take your pet home to bury. We will be there.

Below we have a testimonial from one of our clients:

“When we took Brutus to Gawler Animal Hospital, deep down I knew that it was going to be a one-way trip. The emotional time for all our family and the decision to end Brutus’s time on this earth was particularly difficult for me as I did not know if I could be strong enough to be with Brutus when it was time to say goodbye. After Dr Steve had examined Brutus and [explained to us] that his body was shutting down, we then made the decision to say our goodbyes to Brutus. As Dr Steve was delayed with another patient, Dr Luisa came into the room to perform the Euthanasia. She took us through all the steps of what would happen to Brutus after she had [administered the injection]. I am glad I was there for the end, because it was so peaceful, and it was as Dr Luisa had explained. Brutus just put his head down and went to sleep. I cannot speak highly enough of the Team at Gawler Animal Hospital, and will say if you have decided to say goodbye to your beloved pet, then as hard as it seems, Euthanasia, while an end of life event, is so humane and peaceful for all concerned.”
