Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary Nursing Technician, Diploma of Veterinary Nursing Management, AVA Accredited Nurse
Jo started her career as a veterinary nurse in 1999, qualifying as a Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse in 2002. She then went on to study the Diploma of Veterinary Nursing Management and the Veterinary Technician Certificate. She worked as the Nursing Manager of a large four clinic practice in the northern suburbs of Adelaide before stepping out of the management role and back into general nursing in a practice closer to home. Jo gained accreditation in 2008 and has a special interest in medical nursing and emergency and critical care. To her, nothing is more satisfying than to see a sick patient, that has been cared for closely, walk out of the clinic door happy and on the road to recovery. She is very passionate about helping train veterinary nurses to realize their true potential and to be the best that they can be and therefore also works for the Animal Industries Resource Centre training the Veterinary Nurses of the future. Jo believes there is no better job in the world and is also actively involved on the committee of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia in the role of Media Chair which involves producing the Australian Veterinary Nurses Journal, a dedicated magazine for Veterinary Nurses.
At home she has a cheeky domestic cat called Zaph who takes up most of the bed each night, has just adopted a gorgeous playful Golden Retriever puppy called Eddy and not to forget an ever supportive husband and young daughter to help keep her very busy. Besides being incredibly busy with all of the above, Jo is also a great person to have around! She’s been a great help to us with our weekend roster and we’re delighted to have her onboard.
