Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse, Receptionist
Catherine has an impressive resume in veterinary nursing. Originally from the UK, Catherine had worked in England in a variety of practice situations. This included specialist practice with a very high level of patient care. Catherine had also spent 3 years in Darwin, working in general practice there. When her partner, George, was posted to the RAAF Edinburgh base in SA, we were very lucky to be able to recruit her as the newest member of the GAH team. At pretty much the same time, Catherine discovered that she was ‘in pup’ and so her initial stay with us was fairly brief. Despite the short time spent here, she fitted in really well with staff and clients and has a lovely manner with pets. Initially Catherine was primarily focusing on reception duties so many of you will have already met her and know what a wonderful presence she has. More recently, she’s moved into the consult room but also adds her wealth of experience to the hospital team as well.
After the arrival of little Nora, Catherine spent a few months away on maternity leave. Now that Nora is a little older and more independent, we’re delighted to have welcomed Catherine back into the fold. She’s now spreading her time across all areas of the hospital and providing us with the benefit of her multiple skills in each one.
Having also tied the knot with George, we’re hoping Catherine is here to stay for the long-haul. Luckily for us, George has just had his Adelaide posting extended for another 3 years and so Catherine can also extend her time with us.
As if they’re not busy enough with work and with Nora, George and Catherine also have a couple of Spaniels, Merlin and Winston, and a cat named Nellie!
