Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Amy joined us in late 2019 and has made an immediate impact with her calm, assured manner. Since starting her career as a trainee in Murray Bridge (her family are out that way), she’s gained an enormous bank of experience. Having spent a number of years as a head nurse in a large Adelaide practice, she comes very well equipped to deal with the demands of a busy practice such as Gawler Animal Hospital.
Although her managerial role went very well, Amy missed the daily interaction with clients and pets and so she made the choice to return to a more clinical role with us at GAH. Great choice from our point of view!!
Not content with a busy, full-time day job, Amy is also enrolled in a Bachelor of Applied Science (with a special interest in Microbiology). Needless to say, she enjoys a challenge!
At home, Amy has a very energetic and loveable older dog – Maisey. She was a rescue dog and came to Amy as a 12-month-old pup. She’s still a pup now – just a bit older! Amy also has two cats – Oscar and Alf. Oscar is an older boy and an absolute angel. Amy loves Alf to bits but he is a bit of a rascal who keeps her on her toes.
Fun fact about Amy – she had a stint living and working in Borneo caring for the health of 6 Sun bears, 1 monkey, 6 dogs and 144 cats – apparently, it was the experience of a lifetime!!
