Dr Luisa – Veterinarian
Luisa is a South Australian born and trained veterinarian and was part of the University of Adelaide’s very first Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduating class in 2013. She joined Gawler Animal Hospital in 2018 after working in regional and rural communities in the state’s far north, where she treated a wide range of patients and clients in mixed animal practice. Her passion for small animal medicine eventually led her to her current role at the hospital.
Her main area of interest is small animal internal medicine, particularly endocrinology. Since completing her initial studies, Luisa has undertaken many further courses in the field. While puppies and kittens always brighten her day, Luisa has a soft spot for her senior patients and is passionate about providing them with the highest quality of care to ensure their comfort and quality of life.
At home, Luisa shares her life with her partner Tyson and their daughte. Luisa’s pets include Willow, a Border Collie, Pepa, a Coolie, three ginger cats Andy, Benji and CC, six pet sheep, two pet cows and a collection of chickens. She also loves spending time outdoors, running, bike riding, hiking, and going on camping and 4WD adventures. Recently, Luisa built her dream home in the Adelaide Hills, where she enjoys gardening and tending an orchard and vegetable patch.
